5 Powerful Habits of a Self-Made Millionaire
Self-made millionaires didn’t get to where they are through luck and privilege. While there may be a little bit of the former, there is none of the latter, or else you couldn’t really use the “self-made” moniker.
So if they don’t just stumble into it, how do they go from virtually nothing to having financial independence and the world in their hands? In short, they do it by possessing these five habits.
1. They are voracious readers.
Self-made millionaires have a passion to learn all there is to know about a topic. They realize that with knowledge comes the power to make an impact. It is not uncommon to see a self-made millionaire with multiple magazine subscriptions and books on how to do what they are setting out to do. There is literally not enough information to satiate them. They also throw current events into the reading list because they realize the dynamism of the world around them will affect their ability to make progress.
2. They know when to let someone else handle it.
Mowing the yard, doing the dishes, keeping up with the house, changing the oil, or any number of honey-do items that they may have on their docket that they don’t really want to do — they leave those things for someone else or, more commonly, hire it done. They realize that even if they could handle it in an hour or two at no (or lower) cost, there is no getting back that valuable time which could be directed at growing their business.
3. They are ‘to-do list’ junkies.
Self-made millionaires are avid to-do list keepers. They realize that to take their dreams and goals and make them reality, there needs to be action. The act of creating action items on a to-do list helps them to better visualize and keep tabs on their progress.
4. Their work is part of them.
For a self-made millionaire, work doesn’t usually feel like work. That’s because they care so deeply about what they do for a living that they don’t mind spending the extra hours at the office or putting in the necessary effort to get something right. They pursue passions and other things that interest them, and they are willing to do the work that others will not to be recognized as the best.
5. They diversify.
You have heard the saying, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” Self-made millionaires swear by this, creating multiple revenue streams in order to do two things: a) get a larger quantity of income; and b) safeguard against revenue streams that may occasionally run dry. In other words, multiple diversified revenue streams are as much about security as they are growth.
When you look at where you are now and where you need to go to become a self-made millionaire, don’t forget to incorporate the powerful habits listed above. Each one will help you get closer to your overall goals. Now, with that said, what are some habits that you would include on this list, and which of these do you still struggle with more than any other? Sound off in the comments section.
